Triptych Lounge Comedy Improv started off as an idea called Improvisation North of Toronto. Tim Norton, who founded the company and produces the shows had thought of the idea back when he was taking classes at Second City - the intent was to create a viable improvisation community, starting in Newmarket - eventually to expand to as many towns as possible.

He posted an invite using the facebook tool and was met with considerable interest, including from Herbie Barnes, who is an experienced improvisation instructor and performer. The concept was becoming a reality. Many other talented people, both beginners and advanced joined up, and the group began to workshop at Theatre on Main in Newmarket for a couple of months.

Following a successful debut run at Theatre on Main, it was decided that the group would stretch its legs a bit, and have since performed at various venues in Newmarket, Bradford, Aurora, Alliston, Stayner and Sharon. They are currently settling into new digs at the Fox & Fiddle in Newmarket.
